Weekend Escape To Newport, RI

Newport Rhode Island has a special place in my heart. Among other reasons, my high-school prom was held at the Rosecliff Mansion where the 1974 Great Gatsby was filmed (how romantic!). A few good friends went to school or are currently residing there and the fact that RI is a very small state makes it feel super intimate.

I paid a visit a few weekends ago and walked down memory lane - a stroll along the infamous Cliff Walk to admire all the beautiful mansions and the ocean view, lunch at the yacht club, then daydreaming of playing tennis on the grass courts at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Newport, RI is such a beautiful and quaint town, I highly recommend you to visit. In my opinion, summer and spring are the best seasons, but they get busy so make sure you book your lodging ahead of time!

One of the inspiration images from my Fall/Winter '16 collection looks very similar to this one. It's a nice feeling to spot it in person.

You can spot many beautiful mansions like this one along the Cliff Walk.

Other things I would suggest to see and do in Newport:

1. For car lovers: Audrain Auto Museum

2. For tennis/history lovers: International Tennis Hall of Fame

3. For food lovers: The Spiced Pear and Castle Hill Dining Room

4. For boat/ocean lovers: Various boat tours

5. For Woody Allen lovers: Salve Regina University (where The Irrational Man was filmed)
